DMV DASH PASS hits Las Vegas on July 12, 2014.  DASH PASS is the new Nevada DMV reservation system that will make that dreaded wait in DMV a thing of the past. Use your cell phone to make a reservation before you leave your home. Get notified by text message as your number approaches.

No More Wait

Nevada DMV just became a more friendly place to visit that respects your time. On July 12, 2014, DMV Las Vegas Dash Pass goes online at the Las Vegas DMV offices. It is a no cost service designed to eliminate unnecessary waiting for hours at a time for your number to be called in the Department of Motor Vehicles. It is active now in Carson City and Reno since Northern Nevada was the first to go online.

How Dash Pass Works

You call the phone number to the DMV office you want to visit to transact your business. In this case since Las Vegas doesn’t have live numbers yet, we will use Reno as our example. You would call (844) DASHPASS or Text DMVRENO to (310) 494-2789 and follow the voice prompts. The system will send you updates via text messages to give you your queue number and the estimated wait time. The system will also send you status updates and notify you when you are 15-20 minutes from your number being called. You will also be able to use the internet to secure your place in line. To get in queue on the web, follow his link for the Reno DMV.

Benefits to the new system

No more long waits at the DMV or lining up early in the morning before they open to get a low number and quicker service. In Las Vegas, even a 15 minute wait in the desert sun can be brutal on children, the elderly and pregnant women so this is long overdue for health reasons alone. A great benefit is the system can also move your number back in case you are delayed and can’t get to the DMV when your number is called. The TV screens within the DMV office will have your last four numbers of your phone number displayed with an estimate of the time till it is your turn. For people without cell phones, you can use the web if you have a computer at home or stop in your local library to use their computer. You can also use the self serve kiosks in the lobby to secure your reservation number.
